Dealing with Challenging Behaviours and Challenging Situations

In our work roles and our personal lives, we are often presented with situations that relate to challenging behaviour or challenging situations that we have not encountered before. Challenging behaviour is often described as “when an individual’s behaviour drops below the level of what is regarded as respectful, appropriate or acceptable”.

During this one-day, face-to-face Master Class, attendees will be taught tools to assess, define, contextualise, and safely respond to these situations; allowing an opportunity to develop more confidence to manage yourself, manage others and manage the situation. This workshop will include; understanding what are triggers that take people to this ‘threshold’ of ‘challenge,’ how to identify escalating behaviour and some mitigations, communicating for best results, strategies to support others and looking after ourselves in these challenging situations.

This Master Class is designed and delivered with content that considers the unique context of operating in the Northern Territory. Attendees will receive a workbook containing the valuable resources, techniques, and strategies included in the course.

  • I attended the 'Dealing with Challenging Behaviours and Situations' training with no real expectations. Working in the hospitality industry, particularly with so much going on at the moment, we are often confronted with so many unexpected situations. I learnt skills on ‘active listening’, assertiveness, proactively handling complaints and handling things like guiding patrons around COVID, RSA and safety in the workplace. I have already had great success with putting these skills into practice.
